Why we started Oskoole

For years my 85 year old father-in-law asked me technical questions - how do I attach a photo to an email, why has this stopped working. Small things, easily answered.

Except he lives overseas, and we were in different time zones. He'd write his question in the morning, I'd get back to him in the middle of the night. By the time he got his answer, the moment had passed.

Then I noticed he started sending a few questions at a time. Not asking straight away, but waiting until he had two or three questions saved up.

That's when it hit me - he wasn't struggling with technology. He was struggling with having to ask.

So we set out to build something he could use whenever he wanted, wherever he was, without waiting on anybody. Something patient, unhurried and happy to explain the same thing as many times as he needed - and able to store the answers for him.

That became Oskoole.

We're not trying to make tech experts out of everyone. We just don't want anyone to have to save up their questions.
